Petrina Kent - Artist
|
|
After settling in the Isle of Man in 1982, Petrina met, then married her husband, and dedicated eight years to teaching at the Castle Rushen High School. By 1990 she was ready to make the transition to ‘self-employed artist’. Petrina’s strong Christian faith and love of God has given her the desire to capture the beauty of His creation and weave this aspect into her art. Her paintings have taken many twists and turns over the past several years, and the Manx landscape still provokes fresh ways of interpretation and inspiration to take her art to new and exciting heights. Petrina makes a statement about the present financial crisis in her painting of Athol Street, Douglas, which is a reflective look at the street of finance set against the tranquility of God’s beautiful landscape. Also, her painting entitled, ‘A Tree Amongst Trees, Dare to Be Different’ is a testimonial to those who are prepared to step out against the crowd in order to make a positive impact on the world.
