Janice Cottier - Feltwork

Janice is married to Manxman Brian whom she met met and married whilst working in Zambia. When they moved to Lesotho she set up a Nursery School and began making toys for use in the school which had to be interesting, colourful and durable. Since moving to the Isle of Man Janice has been inspired to start making toys again by her two grand-daughters. She mainly uses felt and no two items are the same.

Some of Janice’s most popular specialities are tiny, felt mice in walnut shells. The idea (which children love!) is that the mice have crept into the shells, eaten the nuts and are too fat to get out! Many of these sweet little creations have a theme such as Graduation mice, wedding mice and Manx mice. They also make perfect Christmas tree decorations, which can become family heirlooms to be passed down through the generations.

Janice loves her ‘job’ and is always happy to take commissions and can personalize items to order. You can see examples of her work at MostlyManx in Douglas and can be contacted via the shop.
