Jan McNeil - Bead Jewellery Designer

Jan originally studied fashion design at Liverpool Art College and went on to work in the fashion industry in London and Manchester.  Raising a family then took priority and it was only when illness confined her to bed, with creative magazines and books for company, that her 'inner artist' was rekindled.

Since then, Jan's self-taught techniques have evolved into fine bead weaving, producing pieces rich in colour and texture.

Her favourite method is off-loom bead-weaving using needle and thread, but she has also experimented with a loom, wire-work and stringing.  She always tries to buy unusual beads on off-Island trips and paticularly enjoys working with very small beads called delicas, the best of which come from Japan.

Jan's work is now available under the name 'BeadyManx' and some of her pieces can be viewed and purchased at the MostlyManx shop in Douglas.
