Teare Family - Weavers
|
|
When it comes to weaving, Eric Teare works almost exclusively with natural fibers and home spun wools and enjoys using an AVL-16-shaft handloom to produce his goods. One of his special accomplishments was a commission from the Manx National Heritage for a Viking cloak and loaghtan horse blanket , which was incorporated into a display at the Manx Museum in Douglas. His wife, Rosemarie prefers to focus on woven tapestries, and is keen on producing items that are made from recycled materials, including rags and plastic bags. Together, Eric and Rosemarie have nurtured their autistic son’s natural talent for crafts, and taught him to weave as well! Ivar likes to focus on producing woollen rugs made from local as well as commercial wool. However, he has also turned his hand to making small woven items such as tote bags made from recycled plastic bags and videotape, which are imaginative and useful! All three of the family members enjoy exhibiting their unique, hand- crafted pieces and have gained recognition and won prizes for their creations.
