Elizabeth Cowin - Artist - Jewellery Designer/Maker

As a Manx artist and jewellery designer -maker, Elizabeth believes, ‘Being brought up on the Island, one cannot help but be influenced by the natural environment surrounding you; thus it is the natural world – plants and animal forms - that I mainly draw inspiration from’.  Pewter has become one of her favourite metals for jewellery making, since it polishes up like silver, but is easier to shape and cut, and is less expensive.  This enables her to make large pieces of costume jewellery and offer them at reasonable prices.

Elizabeth is passionate about head adornments and creates a multitude of different types from beaded bridal tiaras to humourous wearable crash helmet sculptures.  With paintbrush in hand, she is also a talented oil painter, using watercolours and mixed media to create small scale images, large murals as well as interior paint effects with designer style.

When you are searching for an original and affordable wedding present, home décor piece or gift for yourself, please stop in  to see Elizabeth at her workshop in Laxey, (enter via Black’s Fireplaces) or call her at 01624 862209.  She is always delighted to discuss commission work based on your specific needs and budget.  A sampling of Elizabeth’s work can also be purchased at the MostlyManx shop in Douglas.
