Mary Gulland - Textile Artist

The majority of Mary's work has been completed for churches, but also latterly for home interiors. She says a good light source enlivens the colours of the silks whether they are hung on walls or in windows for a stained-glass effect.  Colour, contrast and form are essential elements of her compositions and paintings in silk or acrylic.

The intense colours in silk painting have had an influence in developing Mary's colour mixing for acrylics. Much of the inspiration her paintings comes from the Island's rich landscapes and seascapes, and she tries to convey the warmth and community of her subjects by the use of vivid but balanced colour.

Mary provides a bespoke commissioning service, developing unique visual arts projects for private or public spaces and working with her clients from initial idea right through to completion.
